Biofuel from Municipal Waste - A $70-million waste-to-fuel plant for Edmonton’s Clover Bar waste management facility received its environmental permits on May 20, 2009. “This is North America’s first unconditional commercial permit ever awarded to produce advanced biofuels from sorted municipal solid waste,” said Vincent Chornet, president of Enerkem, a Montreal-based green technology company which is working on the project with Greenfield Ethanol, Canada’s leading ethanol producer.
