BiogasTurn Hog Manure into Energy - A North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources pilot program allows pork producers to register their farms for potential participation in a new program to convert swine manure into renewable energy. The program will select up to 50 registered hog farms to capture methane gas (via full or partial lagoon covers) and to convert the gas to electricity through bio-gas generators. Each farm's power supplier would purchase the generated electricity for 7 years at a price not to exceed 18 cents per kilowatt hour.Bio-Terre Systems - Bio-Terre Systems, in collaborations with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, developed an innovative approach to manure management which combines low-temperature anaerobic digestion, concentration of solids and production of green energy. This technology provides nutrients for crops in the liquid fraction, energy from the bio-gas produced and exportable nutrients in the solid portion. In addition to providing for the needs of the agricultural operation, this technology solves odour problems and destroys pathogenic microorganisms. More information is here. RCM Digesters of Berkeley, California - As of September 2004, RCM Digesters had designed and built over 40 successful anaerobic digester systems. RCM has four different types of digesters:
